The beaches of Glücksburg invite you to sunbathe and look over at the Danish coast. Sports fans will get their money’s worth at the centrally-located Sandwig spa beach. Nature lovers will find peace and seclusion on the northern beach of the Holnis peninsula, and the natural beach in Quellental. All kinds of fun activities await visitors to Damp. In the summer months, young and old alike can spend hours playing beach volleyball and beach football on the Aktionsstrand (“activities beach”) in Damp. Stretching across more than ten kilometres, it is one of the best beaches on the Baltic coast, and offers more than enough space to cater to all holiday wishes. Fine sand, great playgrounds by the waterside and a varied promenade with an abundance of sumptuous flowers – that is what beach life in Eckernförder Bay is all about.

Bathing with a view of the ocean liners

In Schwedeneck, tax-free natural beaches without beach chairs invite you to pause and relax. While the Bay of Kiel leads down to the open sea, there is a beautiful bathing beach in the small town of Strande. There is plenty of room for playing, and for peaceful sunbathing. Anyone who wants to watch the ocean liners first hand will find that the best place for this is Möltenort beach in Heikendorf.

The small town of Stein, with upstream sandbanks and soft waves, is just a few kilometres away and is popular with the whole family. The naturist beach in Wendtorf, in the Bottsand nature reserve, is a protected spot for working on that seamless tan.

Holidays by the lakes

The inland also offers swimming opportunities and natural adventures. With its numerous lakes in an idyllic hilly landscape, the Holstein Switzerland nature park attracts those seeking relaxation. Around the lakes, there are several beaches and bathing areas – for example the lido on the north-eastern shore of the Dieksee lake in Malente. In Ascheberg on the shores of Lake Plön, visitors can head straight from their hotel room or apartment to the beach in their swimming gear and flip-flops. In Dersau and Bösdorf, you can go for a refreshing swim in Lake Plön. There is unlimited access to the stone-free natural beach in Bosau. A historic swimming area with a unique flair attracts numerous visitors to the Grosser Eutiner Lake.

Hohwacht Bay to Fehmarn

The vast natural beach between Behrensdorf and the harbour in Hohwacht is an insider’s tip for long walks all year round. Sehlendorfer beach is especially popular with families and water sports fans. Surrounded by dunes, the fine sandy beach stretches across three kilometres. Families will enjoy plenty of action-packed adventures on Weissenhäuser Strand! On the Baltic Sea Point, close to the island of Fehmarn, is the family resort of Heiligenhafen with beaches for families, water sports fans and nature lovers. The south beach in Burgtiefe on the island of Fehmarn is a popular family beach. Further north, on the tip of the Bay of Lübeck is Grossenbrode. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, it is an Eldorado for water sports fans.

Baltic coast holiday region

The beach in Dahme stretches over more than six kilometres. Here, swimmers will find sections with and without beach chairs, a nature beach, and a surfing area. Visitors can soak up some rays in Kellenhusen. Take in the wonders of unspoilt nature, and find inner peace – that is what Lensterstrand beach, to the north of Grömitz invites you to do.

Bay of Lübeck

The Neustadt and Pelzerhaken beach is an insider’s tip for romanticists. People like to forget the time here, all the while gazing at the evening sun and glittering water.

On the beach in Scharbeutz[nbsp]and Timmendorfer Strand/Niendorf, children in particular will get their money’s worth! In Sierksdorf, dog walkers will find a lovely area for extensive walks with their four-legged friends. On the spa beach in Travemünde, the little sister of Lübeck, you can watch large ferry boats take to the waves.
